4. The Rose is named as the favorite flower of 85% of Americans.
5. William Shakespeare made references to roses over fifty times in his works.
6. The oldest rose in the world?  A 1000 year old rose tree! It’s at Hildeshiem Cathedral in Germany.
7. In 1986 President Ronald Reagan made the rose the official National Flower of the United States.
8. Before selecting the rose that would bear her name, Barbara Streisand perused three hybrid teas for two years in her rose garden, which has 1,200 roses. The “Barbara Streisand” rose is a lavender hybrid tea rose with a pink blush.
9. Confucius, 551 BC to 479 BC, reported that the Imperial Chinese library had many books on Roses.
10. Roses have been used for medicinal purposes for centuries. China has uses roses for traditional medicine and stomach problems. They are now being studied as a natural remedy to stop cancer growth.
