As I look back on the past year in the garden, there are many triumphs, a few heartaches and much improvement. One of the lessons I’ve learnt this year is that gardens do not happen overnight; a relaxed attitude and patience are needed whilst waiting for the garden to mature. I now observe new forms that surprise me because more developed rose bushes create structure and character for the garden in unexpected ways. I wanted to share my favourite rose blooms as an end-of-year review.
Admittedly, it was nature gifting us with massive amounts of rainfall this year that made the roses so abundant, large and full. The highlights of 2022 were the Peace Rose, Princess Grace of Monaco, Fire Opal, Peter Frankenfeld, Peach Profusion, Dame Elizabeth Murdoch, Golden Beauty, Paul Cezanne, Twilight Glow, The Poet’s Wife, Ice Princess, La Vien Rose, Sally Holmes, Papi Delbard Clg, Soul Sister and Queen Elizabeth 11. These beautiful roses gave the garden more bountiful blooms than I had seen before, reminding me of the importance of patience and time.
Thank you for reading my rose stories throughout the year and following my garden news.
Wherever you are in the world, may you find peace, joy, and gratitude this season
From my family to yours, Happy Christmas everyone
Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all
